Free Kindy
In an historic step for Queensland education and early learning, kindergarten will be free for Queensland families. Kindy will be free for eligible-aged children who attend a government-approved program offering free kindy from 1 January 2024.
Families will benefit from free kindy regardless of whether they attend a sessional kindergarten or a long day care, Free kindy is for the 15 hours a week kindergarten program (600 hours a year) delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher. Children must be at least 4 years old by 30 June in the year they start.

Fee Description
- The Statement of Fees found on the parent info page breaks down the kindy costs. Please note: Fees and Levies are set by the Committee and are subject to change each year.
- Enrolment Fee – $95.00 per child. This fee is paid to secure a position for the child and is non refundable. Enrolment fees are charged to minimise the risk of children being enrolled at multiple centres and to cover the administrative cost of the enrolment process.
- Membership to the Whitfield Community Kindergarten Association is $5 per family. As this is a Community Kindergarten, one or both parents/guardians are required to be members and are then able to vote at association meetings and participate in the running of the Kindy.
